We were attending a holiday theater event on Capital Square so we wanted somewhere close for an early dinner. We wanted nice but not self-important, precious over-expensive "fine dining". We wanted modern, neighborhood place with a calm feel and decent wine. The Spot hit .... (wait for it).... the spot!
The spousal unit started with a vodka basil gimlet (nice) had the Cioppino (very nice) and a roasted root vegetable salad. The roots lacked a 'roasted' taste and needed a bit more tarragon vinaigrette dressing (which was quickly provided). I had the excellent poor man's paella (giant shrimp!), a simple Caesar salad and a glass of very nice Oregon Pinot Noir.
The Spot offers an extended happy hour 4-7PM and half-price wine Mondays. Go check it out. Every neighborhood should have a place like this. Spot on!!
