Lena at Tula has been taking care of my hair for years. I started going to her when it was a short pixie-type cut, and now it's really long, ~6-8" past my shoulders. She has consistently given me great cuts at every length. She is really careful about making sure communication and expectations are appropriate -- ie, "You say you want to take a couple inches off the length. Here, this [demonstrates] is what I think two inches means. Is that what you want?" So you never end up with that horrific feeling of realizing that what you described/pictured is NOT what just happened. She makes great, no-pressure suggestions when I'm feeling indecisive and I've always been really pleased with the results. (So has my husband!)
I am also a convert to Tula in general. Having seen Emily and Becky's work, I would feel comfortable having them cut my hair as well. Yes, this is going to be more expensive than your average walk-in salon or something, but it's totally worth it. Also, you are never pressured to do more than you want to as far as products and services. Tula is sophisticated but very laid back--classy but not snobby. I appreciate the vibe they have not only in the salon itself, but their commitment to quality and sustainability and being responsible and conscientious members of the community.
