| - Don't know where to start but I'll start off with the positives:
- nice receptionists
-CHEAP (in comparison to any other vets' prices I've researched/seen in Toronto)
-waiting time is reasonable. You just need to know what time of day to go in. Obviously the later during the week you go, the busier it gets
-They're open pretty late in comparison to a lot of vets (I think it's 9pm)
Now the negatives:
Honestly, the majority of the drs act like they don't even like animals! They're not friendly, personable and they act like they really don't care about your pet or your concerns as a pet parent. I remember the first time I came here (which is the first time I had ever been to a vet), my mother and I were appalled at how rude the dr we dealt with was. When this dr was giving my dog a shot, he raised his voice at me for not holding her down enough. My dog was a puppy at the time and this was her first shot ever. Could you blame her for being a bit squirmy?! He then proceeded to put the blame on me when she started to bleed. Another dr asked me if I could lift my 85lbs dog on the table so he could give her a shot. I said "no I can't. Can you bend down?" Really!? I'm a female who weighs no more than 120lbs and you're asking me if I can lift my dog up on a high table by myself so it's more convenient for you? I think not!
The only reason I continued to go was because of the cheap prices. I now call before hand to find out which drs are in and it's only to do rabies shots and other annual shots. I've found one dr that isn't too bad here. That's about it unfortunately. If my dog ever got seriously sick, I would NEVER take her here. I don't want her to be one of those screaming dogs I hear in their back room. I wouldn't neuter/spay or do any other operation on my pet here either!
I've since found a wonderful, friendly, caring veterinary clinic on Greenwood and Gerrard. I bring my dog and rabbit here and they've both been fixed here with no complications. When they've been sick, they call to check in the next day to make sure your pet is doing ok and to answer any questions/concerns you have. My dog even became good friends with one of the assistant's dog:). It's pricey just like any other vet but you definitely get what you pay for, that's for sure!
To sum up, avoid this vet. Especially if you have anything serious to do with your pet (i.e. operations). This is definitely just a business for most of these drs here. If you're like myself, a full time student struggling financially, save, save and save money to invest in a good vet. Get pet insurance! If you have to go here, make it a check up or annual shot kind of visit. Again, nothing serious. Be assertive and speak up if you feel you and/or your pet isn't being treated like you/they should or if you don't understand what the drs are saying (they have strong Indian accents). Our pets can't speak for themselves so we got to be their voices! Ask questions about prices, don't just nod your head. Ask for alternative solutions, get a second opinion if you feel they're just out to get your money.
I gave two stars because although I've had a few rough experiences here, I can't categorize all the drs here as evil money-suckers. Not all my visits have been horrible. The ones that were have just really appalled me. Do your research, read other reviews and remember: you get what you pay for!
