I closed escrow yester day with Jodi Grossell of Homeowners Financial. I have been an escrow officer for close to 40 years and have bought many homes. This was the worst experience in my life. My escrow was opened 3/18 and was scheduled to close 7/10. I had to establish retirement income which happened on June 18 so we should have been good to go. Jodi neglected to order the appraisal in a timely fashion, and only did so after I questioned her. At that point (June 1 appx) no appraisers available for two weeks. Then the appraiser who came must have been very inexperienced as he called for repairs before passing the house. Highly unusual for a conventional loan. This delayed the escrow another two weeks to have repairs done and re inspect. Jodi had the nerve to send a truth in lending charging me an extension fee which of course, I refused to pay. Jodi didn't pay attention to the credits she and I discussed numerous times and the loan papers came in wrong. Agents had to scramble to get two more addendums done to satisfy her. After I was finally able to sign, it took 4 more days to get funded because the funding staff was all busy and in training. I have worked with so many great lenders and this was a total disappointment. The person who referred me to her also feels bad. Jodi had no sense of urgency and appeared to be very distracted and disorganized. I had to provide my own proof of income taxes as she claimed she couldn't get them.
