This national landmark could be one of the most important historical places in the economy of America. It is also a wonderful marvel of human ingenuity and a tribute to our countries spirit of perseverance. Without this monument we probably wouldn't have the worlds playground, Las vegas, as we see it today.
Built at the border between Nevada and Arizona. Holding back the waters of Lake Mead is one of the worlds wonders. Hoover Dam is a huge concrete structure that uses water current to produce some of the earliest green energy put into mass production. You are able to walk and view the dam from the top and ever since the building of the Hoover Dam highway overpass it is now very smooth to drive through it and admire the view from your car also.
Dam parking is $10. Visitors center is $10 per person. Dam tours run $15 - $30 per person. You don't have to pay to enjoy the outside of the dam but the full experience is to be had on the tour which runs every 30 minutes and takes you through the inside and to the turbine rooms. Very cool. You can still enjoy 1940's architecture statues and informational monuments dedicated to the men who gave their blood sweat tears and, by some, their lives to make this national project happen ahead of schedule and under budget. A definite Las Vegas vacation landmark for everyone.
