We made a pit stop here on our way back from our tour of the Hoover Dam. The cool part of it for me was being able to see the inner workings of the factory while walking the hallways, as the factory floor is visible behind glass windows while you are wandering through. I've always had a fascination with Willy Wonka and I could imagine me getting my Augustus Gloop on, doing a swan dive into the chocolate fountain...
They did hand out a sample of dark chocolate which just so happened to be Vegan as I found out by examining the packaging ingredients on the shelf. Unfortunately when we attempted to ask the lady behind the counter what Vegan chocolates they offered, she looked at us with bewilderment. Since we knew the "V-word" isn't too popular 'round these parts, we instead changed the question to "do you have any chocolates that do not contain dairy or eggs"? Still the same look and some ramblings about white chocolate. Umm... yeah, sorry, you lost me there.
I'm gonna go with a 3 star review because I'm not a hater since I didn't really expect there to be anything we could eat. I still think their employees could use better training. The cactus garden that was advertised as a "botanical garden" was really just a circular walkway surrounded by various cacti. It could make for some decent photo ops if you've never seen a cactus before.
I probably wouldn't stop here on my own but I won't begrudge the tour bus driver from showing us something new.
