| - The short version: I felt cheated by the financing department and when I tried to return the car I was kicked off of the property and I had to call the police to escort me back to obtain proof I returned the car.
------
I had a nightmare of an experience buying a car here. The salesman was super nice and no pressure but that all changed when I got into the financing department. This is my first time buying a car and I am not familiar with their tactics. I had waited nearly 4 hours, it was memorial day and they were busy so I was trying to be patient but I was tired and ready to get out. The finance guy off-handedly mentions what my car payment would be and it was $40 a month more than what I had agreed to. I asked why it had gone up and he said he had lowered the interest rate. So how does my payment go up then? He dodges my questions, says I need extra warranties to qualify for financing, tells me if he takes them off I will have to wait while he re-does the entire loan, dismissively says its only another $1 a day, never breaks down how much I am paying, keeps pushing me to sign papers. I end up signing because I am too tired to keep questioning. I go home and look over everything and he has tacked on an additional $4,800 in ridiculous warranties. I also notice that I signed an AutoNation Pledge that says "We want you to know: The purchase of protection products is not required to obtain financing or a lower interest rate" so he lied to me on that.
SO now it gets even worse. I decide to return the car. The next day we go in and talk to the Finance manager, he is immediately rude and aggressive towards me and the people who came with me. I decide I need to be firm because I was a push-over before and that's what got me into this. When I am passionate but not raising my voice he tells me I am yelling and that he will call the police on me. He tries to give me the same run-around about needing the warranties to secure the loan, he tells me I am lying about the dishonest tactics. I keep saying I don't want to discuss it I just want to return the car, I am getting angry at this point but not yelling. He tells me I am yelling and kicks me out of the property, he gives me NOTHING to show that I returned the vehicle, we ask a sales person to testify on video that we returned the vehicle and he snorts and walks away from us. I am a mess, I left the vehicle there but have no documentation or proof. I call the police and have an officer escort me back onto the property, the guy still insists that they don't give any receipt for the return of a vehicle. He agrees to write a note on the back of a business card saying it was returned. I absolutely cannot believe it escalated so badly so quickly. I know I got a little heated but I am an upset customer trying to make my case and instead of trying to help me he belittled and intimidated me and after only 20 minutes kicked me out and refused to give me any documentation. I would never shop here again, it blows my mind that they would treat me this way.
