It's been almost two year now that I made the move to Vegas. Apartment shopping was not easy, but I ultimately decided where to live based on the fact that there was a WinCo so close by. Back in SoCal, there was only one WinCo and even then it was really far away from where I lived. The prices here are hard to beat! Also, they are open 24 hours 7 days a week which is convenient if you want to buy popsicles at midnight! True story! It's really hot here in Vegas, okay? Popsicles are life out here in the desert.
Pros- I like their prices for canned and boxed items. For example, I can grab a jar of my favorite name brand salsa for $2 here compared to the $5 I would spend at Smiths or Albertsons. I am not some sort of extreme couponer or anything, but I do see that my weekly grocery shopping here is usually around $30 dollars cheaper compared to shopping at Albertsons. They carry a wide variety of brands which is nice, unlike some other grocery stores. The layout of the store is simple and check out is a breeze (self check out, yo!)
Cons- WinCo produce is no bueno. I bought a head of lettuce that went bad in two days of being in the fridge. It was all mushy on the bottom. I have also bought bananas that were so green, I couldn't eat them until almost two weeks later. Its definitely a coin toss here when it comes to their veggies and fruits. Since then I have opted out of buying my produce here and make a trip down the street to Sprouts for better quality.
FYI - WinCo accepts cash or debit card ONLY.
