| - Two visits, two negative experiences.
First off, we brought our newly adopted cat to Leaside to check out a bald patch on the back of his neck. The vet (not sure of the name, but she had short hair), assured us it was ringworm (highly contagious) and to take the appropriate measures. She also recommended a $200+ accelerated test to confirm her diagnosis. In the meantime, we went off and told our friends/family/anyone who came in contact with our cat about the bad news, and that they should watch out for signs of ringworm because of our cat.
Several days later we get a call that there is no ringworm, and it's probably a mark left by a sub-dermal tracking chip. I understand misdiagnoses occur, but she shouldn't have been so confident about her diagnosis before the test was done.
Our next bad experience came after we boarded our cat there while on vacation. While picking him up, the same vet informed me the cat was "spending a long time in the litter box", so they decided to do a test for a UTI ($60+). The test came back negative, of course, but according to their boarding contract they should have contacted us for permission before doing any tests. I went in a few days later, and they agreed to give me a refund. To be fair, they were also very nice about it.
I'll be looking for a different vet in the future.
