| - Over the last few visits to this place, I have unfortunately decided to never come here again. The last few times my fiancé and I have been here we have been disappointed with the level of service, quality of massages and disregard for satisfaction. On her prior visit, my fiancé could not get the guy giving the massage to be gentle despite continually requesting for him to do so. She was recovering from a foot injury at the time and requested special care to the injured foot. Despite this, we decided to give this place one last chance a week back. It is very close to where we live and they were not busy when we called.
When we called to make an appointment at 2pm, the woman on the phone kept trying to convince us to come in at 1:30. It was just before 1 when we called, and we did not want to rush over. We scheduled for 2, but as usual with this location, they did not take our names or information during the call. We arrived around 1:50. The attendant asked us if we were the ones who called and asked us what type of massage we would like. We discussed the prices and there was confusion. The sign on the sidewalk differed from the prices inside and the prices inside were overall more expensive. We decided to do 1 hour, 30 minutes of the massage focused on back for $38. 1 hour massage is listed as $30 on the outdoor walkway sign.
The attendant took us to the massage area and my fiancé was trying to explain that she wanted the massage much more gentle than last time. She seemed to be in a hurry with us and it took several times to get her to understand what we wanted. There was a bit of a language barrier, but that did not seem to be the issue with communicating, rather the hurried nature of the attendant. It took some persistance, but we felt that we had an understanding of how we wanted the massages.
My fiancé had the female attendant that she asked for the softer massage and I had the male attendant. He did not speak English, so I had to communicate to him through the female attendant. This ordinarily would not be an issue, however, on this occasion I had to continually ask for the attendant to be softer. I do like a firm massage most days and I said that I wanted a firmer massage than my fiancé. I'm not sure what kind of torture to call the ensuing 60ish minutes, but a massage it was not. I had to request less pressure and softer over a dozen times. At one point I contemplated getting up and walking out. The massage started with the foot bath like usual, but the water was not even warm. This was followed by a temple massage, which I have never received from this location on previous visits. The pressure on my temple and neck areas was so firm I thought the attendant was going to accidentally injure me. When moving my limbs the attendant moved very fast and while he was raising my arm, I had to jerk back because it was way too fast and it felt as though it was about to injure my shoulder. All of the motions used around my spine, lower back, ribs and joints were painful. Once again, I asked several times for this to be more gentle. Each time it was communicated through the other attendant and my attendant acknowledged this as if he understood, only to continue as hard or harder.
When we went to pay, there was a sign that had appropriate tip levels as follows: $5=unsatisfied, $10satisfied, $15=very satisfied, and $20=euphoric or something equal to that. I tipped $10 as I wanted to get out of there and not be hassled for not tipping enough even though this was without question the worst massage experience of my life.
Over the course of the following week, I was extremely sore and at times in agony. I had to use a foam roller more time than usual to get my back to feel back in alignment(I have a healthy back aside from this massage). I had a headache for 2 days after in the temple areas of my head. A week later and my neck is still sore and is tense when I turn to the right.
This is really disappointing because this place is so close by and seldom busy, however, it may seldom be busy for this very reason. I am not sure what type of training attendants go through for this foot spa, but after our last visit, we have decided not to gamble with our health at this location. I am a healthy individual with a fairly high tolerance to pain and this place had me say uncle (softer) throughout the entire massage. My advice would be to avoid this place and seek out one with credentials even if it costs a bit more or you have to travel to a differs area of Las Vegas or Henderson.
