| - I recently purchased a large offset smoker and have been eager to get going since the snow was flying. After watching dozens of videos about fire management, accessories, recipes, methods and wood and meat selection, I realized that true barbecue is all but non-existent here in Canada, in Ontario anyways... Ontarians grill.
That said, I had a hell of a time finding large cuts of barbecue meat readily available. In many of the States, you can go into your local Costco and walk away with a full brisket, with both point and flat. Here, I find that I need to order one from my local butcher with sometimes a week's notice.
Then I remembered Alex's.
What a wonderful surprise to come in here and find they had everything I needed for a full-day smoke for a crowd. 7 lbs of beef ribs? Check. Full brisket? Check. 2 Boston butts? Check. What a fantastic place! And, to boot, Mike is such a crazy-helpful and friendly guy and his prices are extremely reasonable!
Alex's is my new go-to butcher. I won't even bother looking elsewhere.
