I don't know if it's my bad luck or maybe cause I walk around looking like a bum half the time but I had the worst experience here!
I made an appointment yesterday for today to get a full set of nails done, I think I was speaking with the owner (given the info from the previous reviews) and she said 2pm would be fine.
I was actually super excited to go considering all the fantastic reviews and I desperately needed my nails done plus it was super close to my boyfriends house. I was thinking awesome my new go to nail place!! But unfortunately that wasn't the case.
As the reviews mention the place seems quaint, it is on the small side but I don't mind that. To be frank I actually thought it was magic nails located a little further north on Jane, I had completely over looked this salon but it wasn't. They appear to have a small parking lot behind but I'm glad I got a ride cause it's a tiny little driveway which I'm pretty sure leads to an even tighter lot. The place seemed clean but I was only there about 10min so it's hard to say much about that which I'm bummed about as I would have loved to have gotten my nails done today
Truthfully I will level and say that I do look like a bum which is why I opened with that fact as I'm pretty sure that's why I received the treatment I did. I arrived for my 2pm appointment on time, a fairly young lady was doing someones nails already and told me to pick my color. I don't need polish as I only wanted natural pink gel so I sat down waiting patiently on my phone. After almost 10min of waiting I was informed by the same woman ( I think it was the owner ) that the guy who's supposed to do my nails is on "lunch" and he "should" be back in about 10min. Now if I had walked in, fine no prob.... But what is the point in making an appointment if your not going to honor it? I have work later so I was really pressed for time, which is why I made an appointment to begin with. I could have gone to the usual nice one nails, gotten the same unfriendly treatment but at least they would have gotten the job done.
Once I go to a salon a few times, they know me and they know how well I tip so they over look my appearance. I know the struggle of working hard for your money and so I am always extremely generous, many say overly generous. Which is why I decided to quietly leave instead of waiting around for someone I had booked to finish their lunch at 2pm to meander back so I could pay them to do the job at their leisure.
I know life comes with its unfortunate tendencies and people often judge a book by its cover which is what I feel happened here. That being said it shouldn't be happening, business is business and money is money. I guess I need to put a full face of photoshoot makeup on and designer threads to be treated with decency.
