| - Clayworks is Charlotte's hidden not for profit ceramics education gem. While it may rank as the fourth largest ceramic arts educational non profit in the USA, Clayworks is as intimate and friendly as an arts environment can be. The staff is highly competent, efficient and friendly, helping all who need assistance, especially the novice ceramics student. The some 26+ resident artists provide a cooperative and supportive environment, not just for the artists, but also for the students who are taking classes. The teachers are dynamic and inspiring. And all of this takes place in a facilities that is up to date, air conditioned, extremely well maintained, and with the latest electric, gas, salt and raku kilns. Students have a variety of opportunities for beginning and advanced instruction in ceramics as well as attending workshops given by established ceramicists from around the USA. Clayworks gallery is available for artists and teachers to sell their art, and two sales a year in the entire facility are open to the general public. Clayworks also provides a mobile clay studio, which reaches thousands of underserved children and adults throughout the region in their community engagement program.
