| - Depends on what you'll use . . .and if you have friends there!
First, this gym is pricey for the area, but worth it, IF you take full advantage of the classes, pool, basketball courts, etc. If you're more of a do-your-own thing person, your money is better spent elsewhere. Also, it seems to be designed for people with many small children--teeming with them, so that is also an issue for some of us. Lots of silicone and women with tons of makeup (ex-strippers?) There are also some issues that need to be addressed--if you plan to attend the weekday spinning classes at 9:30, I don't know what time you need to get there to get a bike--I was there as early as 9:00 AM several days and it appears that some of the soccer moms were "saving" bikes for their many friends (putting towels on the bikes to reserve). This behavior is condoned by management, and it is simply unfair to other members. Some of the classes are great (simply strength at 9:45 on Sundays is the best), but others are hit-or-miss. For example, the step classes start out with very difficult combinations. The instructor said up front, "if you weren't here on Tuesday and Friday, I don't know what to tell you about the combinations. Do your best." So no problem for the class regulars, but for someone dropping in for the occasional class (or a non-contortionist like myself), you're basically screwed from the start. Not very encouraging, even for those of us who work out every day and are in decent shape. Also, be prepared for some serious sales pitches for training, heart monitors, you name it. I asked for a one-week pass for my husband, and when he came in to pick it up, he was told he needed to wait a half hour to meet with someone. This was after I arranged the meeting, at a particular time, with a particular person. After a hard day at work, he took off instead of waiting. And we never got a call of apology or inquiry. So I'm taking my money elsewhere--going to Mountainside Platinum for one half the price and much friendlier service. Less crying kids too!
