  • Formerly the exemplar of the Madison 'supper club' dining experience. About two years ago they raised their prices 50%, started dishing smaller portions, and quality and execution went way down. For me--the Avenue is the biggest dining disappointment in town, because we used to love going to get fish boils and fish fries. Their rueban with homemade onion rings used to be quite good as well. Now onion rings are packaged and the corned beef is gamey. They're still busy on Friday nights, but unfortunately I'd argue that there's no reason to come here anymore outside of tradition.
