| - My wife and I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times while in town visiting family. I must give accolades to the entirety of the staff--they are pleasant, helpful, and proffer a very warm and welcoming attitude. In fact, I believe a few of them have been there several years and obviously take pride in their work. The facility and infrastructure, however, is another story; similarly, requesting a type of room via the phone reservation was problematic.
We most always stay in the "Cabana" rooms, which offer a nice view of the pool area and have a nice balcony. When I made the reservation, I requested a cabana room (and gave them a specific room number we prefer). I was told the room was available, given a price, and an E-mail confirmation. When we went to check-in, we were given a room in the west wing (that's more like a regular multi-story hotel) and they were unsure if any cabana rooms were available. Ultimately, they found a cabana room and we settled in; the price was $10 more per night, but overall not a big deal (just unexpected considering it was different than the confirmation price we received).
Once in the room, I was dismayed at how dilapidated the room was: paint was coming off the walls, they apparently replaced the sliding door and did not finish the interior work, and the air conditioning filter housing was falling off the ceiling (it appeared to have been recently repaired, albeit poorly). Most shocking was the air conditioner discharge duct seemed to be full of a black splotchy growth similar to mold (since I'm not an expert, I can't say if it was actually mold). Perhaps that contributed to the musty smell of the room. I took a picture of it and showed the front desk, so perhaps it'll be clean for the next person. Lastly, they do offer free Wi-Fi, but like most motels, don't expect it to work effectively--if you can manage to log-in.
Overall, it felt like we were staying in a low-budget motel that had the most excellent staff. That said, I think we'll probably look around for another place during our next visit.
