I am in the market for a new truck and deciding between a Tacoma and Frontier. I am wanting to make this decision this Memorial Day weekend. I sent in an appraisal request and the sales person contacted me. I explained my situation that I am looking for an OTD price because I already have a bank. Then the manager called and said he may be able to give me more for trade, and I offered to stop by TONIGHT but before I waste time, I wanted some ballpark figures to see if we were close. I explained the few other dealers I'm talking to are providing this. I have purchased many cars before and have a pretty good idea if it will work. He didn't want to do it. I agreed to drop in after work. After thinking, it didn't sit right. I reached back out to sales rep and he said to call the manager back. When I explained what I was thinking, he said "let me know when the other dealers don't give what they promised" and "let me know when you're serious". Let me clarify, I am READY TO MAKE A PURCHASE, but I guess I'm not serious enough. Really all I was looking for was some pricing info! In a business with so much competition, to not provide some figures as a tact to get me to come in and then have a snarky salesman to a potential buyer...too bad because I was pretty pumped about checking this truck out.
