| - Overall, an A-OK experience.
It's located oddly, in a commercial area right at the end of one of Scottsdale Airport's runway. Interior: like a Mom-and-Pop restaurant that hasn't been updated in quite a few years, but I didn't notice it being particularly unclean, and I am pretty fussy about that. (Too much Kitchen Nightmares and such!) Our server was a super-nice girl, personable without being too much so, informed on the dishes, took care of us very efficiently.
I had the Branzino special and it was wonderful! Our server told me that the chef makes each portion of the brandy cream sauce on order---no mass production. So delicious, and a really nice portion! My husband had the Chicken Caccitore, He used to live in NJ, visited NYC often, and he LOVES Italian food. He said this was some of the best Chicken Caccitore he'd ever had, and that's saying a lot.
We each had a house salad with the House Italian. Nothing imaginative, but the greens were fresh and it was nicely presented. The dressing was pretty good, not at all sweet, as happens occasionally when made in-house.
The bread was dreadful. It was heavy and doughy and tasted a little raw. We ordered the bruschetta, and they brought us a round of the bread that had been baked in the oven with the bruschetta on it. It was more like a little pizza. The bread was still awful and I now know I do NOT like baked bruschetta. That was the big disappointment of the meal.
Would we go back? You betcha! I assume we just got a bad batch of bread because other Yelpers have raved about it. And I just wouldn't order the bruschetta, since I don't like that style. But the quality of the entrees certainly calls for a repeat visit. With those caveats, I can recommend!
