| - [Montreal Food Tour Stop #8] A great selection of vegan food, which not only includes salads but also juices, smoothies, tempeh, tofu, burgers made from tempeh or tofu, alcoholic beverages, and rice bowls. I needed something healthy to counter all of the poutine, pastries, and desserts that I had been eating in Montreal. This restaurant isn't quite in downtown, but it was worth the cab ride from downtown. It's nice to be pleasantly full, but still comfortable because the food is all relatively healthy.
Highlights: I ordered the tempeh burger, which comes with a vegan coleslaw and a side of potato wedges. It's been a long time since I've had tempeh, and that last experience was in a college dining hall. Eating the tempeh burger here gave me a fresh perspective - that a vegan burger patty can actually taste good. The patty (more shaped like a rectangular slab) was very moist, unlike the first time I ate tempeh. There was a tasty spread on the sandwich. I liked how the burger was served with potato wedges instead of fries. The vegan coleslaw was very light.
Critiques: Bread for the burger was just okay, in my opinion. I also ordered a mango lassi, which was decent but average. The drink tasted differently from what you would get at an Indian restaurant.
Overall: If you're vegan, this place is awesome. Carnivores may still prefer real meat over the vegan burgers, but the dishes were well executed and a nice change of pace from fried food and buttery pastries.
