| - There's nothing really spectacular about this place. It is the hotel restaurant & bar for the International Plaza, and while I have experienced better hotel bars and restaurants, Orchid Cafe isn't the worst.
I was staying at the International Plaza because of a cancelled flight, and Air Canada put me up in a room for the night. They also provided me with food vouchers that I was only able to use at Orchid Cafe and Starbucks.
After checking in, it was necessary to go get a drink from the bar. After 16+ hours of travel, I wanted a drink to wallow in... I should have been at home instead of a 3star hotel in Toronto.
Ok, back to the point. I got my drink - gin & tonic - and they were reasonably priced. I sat and ate some snack, and then I finally ordered dinner that I took to my room.
I ordered the Fresh Pappardelle Pasta. It is a nut-free pesto covered pasta with an assortment of fresh veggies - mushrooms, roasted peppers, onion, grape tomatoes, and shaved padano cheese.
To be honest - it was fresh. The flavors were strong, maybe a bit too strong, but it was good. The pasta really long and required a lot of cutting. It was a little heavy on the oil too...
The physical appearance of the restaurant is fine - relaxed with a few TV to catch the news or game.
The best part of the experience would have to be the gentlemen behind the bad and serving food. They were pleasant, appropriately attentive, and helpful. So this definitely ups the star rating in my opinion.
