| - I've been going to NCounter for over a year now, and use it primarily for quick breakfasts that get to include my dog on their patio!
It has become a very popular breakfast spot for weekday mornings, especially for vegetarians and secret drinkers.
I love it as a neighborhood spot, but don't necessarily think one should go out of their way to go here. It has a great location diagonal from the A mountain and literally across the street from the 3rd/Mill LightRail stop. There is decent parking around and plenty of bike racks outside.
The patio is nice, with misters that are hit or miss, sometimes not on, sometimes too wet and you end up in a wet t-shirt contest, and totally kid and dog friendly.
It is counter service, but they do have runners that bring out their drinks and food, so have a person stake out a prime table while everyone places their orders inside. I've never had much of a wait for for food, and they always bring out cocktails fast.
Their food is solid, the Farmhouse Benedict is perfect, they have some great bfest sandwiches, their french toast is super sweet, they don't have waffles which is a bummer, but their portions are generous. Their b-fest cocktails are around $5 and actually a better deal than just buying juice- honestly!
I would say their downfall is coffee- it is terrible. Really terrible. I have to bring my own coffee when I come here, it is really that undrinkable. They don't have any bfest specials so if you come here often enough (and don't eat meat) you tend to get stuck in ruts, so that would be rad to see. Their misters situation can be really unpleasant. Their pastries never really look that appealing- I'm not sure if it is presentation, or what. Their coffee/tea station is super annoying- you are supposed to grab your own silverware, napkins, drinks, ketchup, hot sauce, sugar, etc. It is super annoying and a lot of the goods are high up! While the food comes fast, don't expect clean up to be fast at all. The runners really slack on cleaning up the tables and so I often have to move my dirty plate to another table to get it out of my face.
Despite these annoyances, I love their friendliness to dogs as my MaltiPoo Chloe likes hanging out here and they always offer fresh, cold water to her. The restaurant is super sclean and they have hosted the Bike to Work free b-fest, which was super awesome and supportive.
This is a solid joint appropriate for a wide range of b-festers.
