| - Ah yes, the "Crack Macs". As a previous reviewer alluded to, this place has such a reputation that it's probably one of the best landmarks in the area. In fact, when describing to friends how to find my apartment building I always say, "two blocks straight north of the crack mac's, north east corner". Nobody who's been in the city more than a few months ever fails with these directions. Tell them Moxies, McDonalds, etc. and they invariably ask which one, aren't sure if they know it, etc. but there is only one "Crack Mac's".
Yes, as several people have said below, this is one of the biggest, most well-stocked, and varied stores in the chain, especially within Calgary and often serves as sort of a replacement grocey store for myself and most of the people I know in the area... that being said, this is one place where you truly pay the price for convenience. It's not often that I can get to the store and home again without being asked for change or offered drugs by at least two people.
In addition, the staff are (understandably) pretty paranoid. God help you if you're ever the only person in the store, cause you'll probably have at least two rather bitter employees staring you down every second.
That being said, if you come in during a busy period, and can avoid the solicitation (hint: headphones make a great deterrant), then this is the place to go, especially once everything else is closed.
