| - As good as it gets for Pittsburgh.
I've stayed at the Renaissance, Westin, Hilton/Doubletree, Hyatt Place North Shore, SpringHill Suites North Shore, and without a doubt this is the best stay I've had at a hotel in Pittsburgh.
For a town that lacks a Four Seasons or a Ritz, this new, modern Fairmont makes up for a great lack of quality accommodations in Pittsburgh.
My GPS sent me in circles...finally I ripped it off the windshield and just trusted instinct. For me the hotel was tough to find and I'm generally good with directions. I pulled in at 2am and there was no valet immediately available...I spun around the block and found the new self parking garage. It was new, well lit and I felt safe. It's three levels and it takes you up to what appears to be an office tower and hotel lobby. The hotel's lobby seems more like a high end bank than a hotel.
Check-in was quick, and they gave me keys to a 20th floor room. The view wasn't as great as their website purported, but at 2:30am it didn't matter much.
I found the room luxuriously appointed, comfortable, inviting and pleasant. The bedding was ultra-comfy. You won't want to get out of bed.
The bathroom was spectacular, exactly what you'd expect out of a high end hotel. Only oddity I found in my room was that the tissue was not in the bathroom, but instead next to Keurig coffee maker.
I found the shower's water pressure to be low, but other than that it was a perfect stay.
