| - I was going to write a nostalgic review, talking about how Metro was a cool place to shop and hang out at as a teen in the 90s, or how the transit center made getting to the mall without a car a breeze, or how there was a food court and arcade to spend your afternoons at...
Instead, the thought of re-living all of those memories and comparing it to now days is so depressing, I would rather skip all that and talk about the current reality of Metrocenter as it stands now.
In short, it stinks.
Over half of the mall is empty, with nearly all anchor stores closed and half of Dillard's still open (as a clearance center). The food court is dreadful, the shopping is very limited, and the only remaining positive is that a Harkins Theaters is still attached to it.
It bums me out that the mall I hung out in as a youth is so desolate and crappy now. Despite the numerous attempts at "revitalizing" the area surrounding Metrocenter, the mall itself is still looking empty and is a shell of its former self.
I can't even imagine the type of place this will be once the two-story Wal-Mart is finished being built. Perhaps that will help bring people back to the old mall, but who knows. In the end, Metro may not be able to be saved and that saddens me.
