  • Hair is a special and sensitive thing, so i included a short and long review for those that want more info. Short version review: Amazing, highly skilled, friendly, reasonable prices, all natural products, comfortable and non-judgemental, great space, highly recommended. Long version: Prior to meeting Alicia 7 years ago, I only ever had cuts where regardless of who cut it, I would need to go through a "get used to it" phase to actually like my haircut. I didn't mind spending money on a cut if it meant that I could get a great one (looks good and is low maintenance between cuts.) On a lot of research and recommendations, I tried a lot of reputable, including some very high end, salons (Aveda, Fiorio, Toni & guy, Hair on the Avenue, Marc Anthony, Glo, Gliss, etc.) until I met Alicia back at John Steinberg. Not only are her prices reasonable, she was also the first stylist ever to give me a cut that I actually liked the day of and one that properly grew out so that I didn't feel the need return to the salon to touch up within a month. When she opened up her new salon, it was much further from my house, but I didn't hesitate to follow her. She genuinely cares and prioritizes client satisfaction, without sacrificing her integrity as a stylist. Most importantly, Alicia has a great eye and great taste, and she's always been helpful in communicating what would look best on me. Not only has she been consistent in giving me great cuts, she's also demonstrated a massive range of skill and knowledge in styling my hair. I've grown to trust her completely and as a result, I have felt confident in taking more risks with my hair. Since I work for one of the world's largest companies in the beauty and hair care industry in a professional office capacity, I have added pressure to ensure that my hair not only always looks well groomed, but also stylish and trendy. As such, Alicia has given me every cut imaginable - bobs/lobs both symmetric and asymmetrical, long layers, straight cuts, side bangs, straight across bangs, etc, and colours - blonde, red, ombré, and most recently blue and purple lowlights in my naturally black hair. To illustrate my point, when I wanted to donate my long hair (cut 15+ inches off), we talked about the shortest cuts that would demonstrate a high level of hair involvement and still be ok in an office. We went with the "Miley" so that I could get 2 looks out of 1 hair style- a fun crazy shaved down on both sides cut, and an office appropriate look where Alicia made sure to leave enough on top so that if I needed to, I could part it to look like a stylish bob. As a result of being her client, I've had many people ask me where I get my hair done, and I've recommended over 10 people to Alicia and her staff at the salon and they have all become fans. Net net, she's amazing, go to The Queen's Shoppe.
