Came here for brunch with some friends and my hubby. There was a line up outside the door and they wouldn't seat us until our whole party had arrived. We waited maybe 20 - 25 minutes in total. Thankfully it wasn't a cold day so we didn't mind too much.
We were seated in the back corner which didn't have any sunlight. Kind of sad especially since it was such a nice sunny day. Oh well.
My husband and my friend both ordered coffees. My husband said it was like an americano and no free refills.
My friend and I both ordered the Breakfast Benny. My other friend ordered the Breakfast Sammy and my husband ordered the Hitchhiker. We also ordered a smoked salmon sandwich to share.
1) Breakfast Benny - I really enjoyed mine. I liked the savouriness of the potato waffle but it breaks down quite easily. The egg is cooked medium which isn't how I like my eggs to be poached (I prefer soft) but it seemed like all our eggs were cooked that way which suggests to me that perhaps that's just their style. My friend who also ordered the breakfast benny had 1 egg that was near hard boiled. He told the wait staff about it and they brought him 2 extra poached eggs (again, medium) with hollandaise sauce.
2) Breakfast Sammy - My friend ordered this and felt that the regular waffle got quite soggy under the eggs. She also found 2 egg shells in her dish. When the server came by to see how we were doing, she told her about the egg shells. The server then promptly went to tell the cooks and came back and apologized, explained that there were new cooks that were being trained that day and told her that her dish was 50% off.
3) Hitchhiker - I tried a bit of this and really did not like the eggs. I felt that they were overcooked and dry (I prefer my scramble to be a bit on the runny side).
4) Smoked Salmon Sandwich - This had waaay too much cream cheese on it. To the point where it overpowered everything you tasted, even the salmon. The dill in the waffle was a nice touch though.
All breakfasts came with either potato salad, fruit salad or beans. My husband tried the beans which were actually very sweet as I think a lot of maple syrup was poured into it. We all really enjoyed the fruit salad - it had a good combination of fruit (not just melons and pineapple).
Overall, I liked my Breakfast Benny but I don't think anyone else really loved their dishes (hence my 3 star rating). The prices are reasonable. I'd be willing to try it again and hopefully all the cooks will be trained well that day.
