Last night my father was transported by ambulance from the base hospital to sunrise. He had been at the base hospital for three weeks from an infection in his knee that got into his blood stream. Instead of putting him in and getting meds started they left him in the hallway for 14 hours. He couldn't walk and needed to use the restroom and when he asked for assistance the nurse told him to wait. About 30 minutes later he begins to get upset because they still hadn't taken him to relieve himself so they hand him a plastic urinal and tell him he can urinate in that right there in the hallway with the other patients sitting there. Unfortunately I wasn't there. He called me at 4am asking me to pick him up and take him to UMC, and once he tells them he's leaving they try to tell him he's not going anywhere that he was just about to get a room!?!? Needless to say we left and got proper treatment and care from the staff at UMC.
