First off, I have to state that I hate musicals. I know I'm in the minority on that, because it seems just about every Broadway show is a musical. In those, an actor is delivering their lines, then break into song and sing their lines, with music that magically surfaces from who knows where. (I know it's an orchestra, but on stage they could be out on the street or in a desert or in a boat in the lake and there's this music that appears out of nowhere -- I just think it's dumb.)
Anyhow, this is different. This is a play that is intertwined with real songs with the music played by a band. The dialogue is not sung. The Four Seasons' hit songs are sung in conjunction with their ongoing career.
The true story line of the group is quite interesting. And the music -- those great songs of the time -- were replicated wonderfully -- with high quality and right on point. It was truly a great show and wonderful performance. It lasted just over two hours including a short intermission. And the time flew by. Now that's the mark of a great show.
