| - So, recently I was too lazy to fight the crowds at Superstore. It had been a long week, I was lacking in energy and the will to fight, and I only needed a few things. Hence: Co-op.
The food selection is fairly limited and priced higher than Superstore. They had limited frozen foods, expensive cereals and a basically non-existent ethnic food section. Do rich white yuppies not eat rice or make hummus or even eat Mexican?! I was a little embarrassed. I can't survive on cereal and pasta alone, people.
That being said, their deli, bakery and fresh fruits and veg section is stupendous. All of the fruits and vegetables are fresh and ready to go, and you barely need to examine them to know you're getting good stuff. They have tons of varieties of fresh baked breads, which is so, so fabulous. And the deli and cheese selections are pretty good and diverse considering their size.
But co-op makes it's mark once you get to the till. As a member, you automatically get some money off. And then they bag your groceries for you. And then a porter puts them on a cart and wheels it out to your car for you, where he or she puts your groceries into your car! I'm so into the superstore mindset: "got the reusable cloth bags, put the groceries in the bag OMG they're piling up!!!" , and then fighting to put it all into your car that as I watched that kid do it for me I almost kissed him. It was so nice to just do it all peacefully and lazily. If I had kids I'd be coming here a lot more.
It's almost worth the prices just for the level of service.
