| - Restaurant-only review; based on that, they wouldn't want me to review the club.
I wanted to take DH here as I had heard good things about the food and thought that he might enjoy the prandial entertainment. I was half right. We were there on a Wednesday night around 9 p.m. The décor is charmingly decadent, as one would expect. The banquette seating is capacious and comfortable.
The show consisted of a beautiful woman entering her boudoir and preparing herself for an evening's work. She applies make-up, changes her, oh, let's call it clothes, and does her hair. It was erotic, but not at all explicit. DH loved it. So far, it's a good night out.
I ordered the pork ribs (now removed from the menu) and pommes frites ($8). DH had the beef-based sliders ($14) and another item that also appears to have been removed from the menu (little wonder). My selections were nothing remarkable; not good, but not bad. Perhaps two stars out of five. Now for the whopper: when the server came to remove the plates, she asked how we had enjoyed our food. DH said "that is one of the worst things that I've ever eaten in a restaurant." She thought that he was kidding, and, for half a second, I thought that he might be, too, since he rarely complains about much, and never about food. He wasn't. He continued to explain, politely but in detail, what was wrong with each item. She scurried away, to be replaced by the manager. I don't know his name, but he should be a model for the service industry. DH expressed the strong opinion the chef was incompetent. The manager explained that they had, indeed, been having problems with the food, that the chef had recently been replaced and that they were in the process of making things right. He removed all food from the bill and apologized for our disappointing experience.
A bad meal can happen anywhere, but an upfront explanation and an apology (with commensurate bill adjustment) goes a long way toward improving the mood of the disgruntled diner.
