| - I've been going to vegas hot for 4 years now. I took 2 weeks break, back in class today, and was told I must pay $1 tip for the instructor before entering the class. I said Can I tip after class cuz I don't want to go back to my car and class is starting in just a min. The check-in agent insist I must do it before class, offered he can take money out of my card on file (is that even legal? Fraud charge). So I ran out to my car and grabbed $2 (instead of $1 as he asked). Then the check-in agent said he will keep $1 here and the extra $1 I can put in the instructor tip box....... At this point I'm pretty confused, if the tips go straight to the instructor, why couldn't he just keep that extra dollar for her instead of separated it and have me put that extra dollar in her tip box?!
It's not about $1-$2, it's the concept. Regardless where does that "service fee/tips" go, I personally think gratuity/tips should be voluntarily, not forced. It is not right to make your customers to tip the instructors or u can't enter class. So what is that $400 annual fee that I paid for go to?!
This whole situation gives me the impression that the owner is cheap and pays his instructors poorly, so instead of giving his instructors a raise, he put it on his customers. Sorry but Not a good business practice. If this doesn't change, I'm sure he will lose a lot of customers, including myself.
