| - Being a lover of French macaroons and new to the Valley, I Googled some places to try. I was super psyched to find that there was a place relatively near by me, Yay! Too bad it was a complete waste of time.
We walked in and had to wait a bit while another customer was being helped. Then a woman from the back comes out and asks us if we have been helped. We say no and she takes our order. Now, since rose macaroons are my absolute favorite flavor (and the reason that I came) and I don't see them on the list, I ask if they have them. The woman rudely and condescendingly says, with a laugh.. "no! there are no such thing as rose macaroons!" I am quite confused and come back politely with....... yes... yes there are, I have eaten them on many, many occasions. She continues to act rude, patronizing and condescending to me as if I was an idiot or a small child. I gave up and we ordered another flavor- which were some of the most boring and flavorless macaroons I've had. Not shocking (side note: I tried the Lavender, which is another favorite of mine.. and it was totally sweet and NOT the correct light floral taste that it is supposed to be- much like the rose flavor).
My thoughts are this: do not trust a baker who does not know that ROSE macaroons not just exist but are extremely popular. I have traveled to Paris and had them there on multiple occasions. I also used to live in Manhattan and they are a STAPLE in French macaroon shops like La Maison du Macaron in Chelsea. I feel like this is a bakery that decided to cash in on the macaroon craze but had little knowledge of how to actually make them.
Also, don't talk down to your customers, pretty much rule #1.
