  • The "maintenance" required message had been flashing on my car dashboard screen for about 3 weeks so I finally decided to get general maintenance on my car last weekend...haha. I had asked a church friend a month ago what place she goes to for an oil change and she mentioned Bruce's Automotive. She said she loved their service amd considering that I am new to Cleveland (3 months now), I trusted her judgement. I initially came in the early afternoon on November 4th but they were booked for the day so I made an appointment for November 11th. I arrived on November 11th for my 9am appointment. I waited over an hour for my car to be checked. I kept asking when my car would be looked at but I was told as soon as possible because all the service guys were busy. While I waited and grew impatient (only because I knew I would be late to meet friends), I got to chat with a customer who told me about his family, job, and living in Chicago...lol. Then I chatted it up with the front desk guy who proceeded to smoke at the back of the office which sucked for me because I could smell and inhale all that smoke because the office area is small. You would think I would be mad about waiting an hour and smelling smoke. Well, I was mad but I wasn't about to bash out at these guys who were doing their best to meet my needs. I also knew storming out wouldn't change anything so I waited patiently. I guess yoga and breathing has helped in situations like this. I even got to chat with the owner while waiting and he told me a whole history of how he got started with his business and the fact that he has been in Lakewood for over 30 years now. Again, as I waited, it was neat to see how many regular people visited this establishment knowing how busy they always are. And I knew they were busy because one of the front desk guys showed me the calendar of future appointments and list of things that had to be done that day. ANYWAY, finally, at 10:10am or so, a service guy came to take my car to the back. He got the oil changed and tire rotated and I was out of there by 10:35am I think. Goodness, what a first experience. Good, in that I chatted with people and learned about this business. Bad, because I waited so long. I think maybe if 2 new people were hired then the waiting time wouldn't be so long but perhaps this is just general for an Automotive service shop? Also, this is a small business anyway so waiting is expected. Overall, these guys were nice to me while I waited and my car was well taken care of so I have no complaints about the work done on my car besides the wait time.
