OMG! I don't know why i waited so long to do eat here? Was it the very unassuming space it occupies or the generic name? No, i think it was because I didn't want to be disappointed. After living in LA I had resisted trying Thai food in other cities because I didn't think it could compare but boy was I wrong! I ate here early evening on a Tuesday when I was the only diner. The hostess was quite charming and welcoming and asked me to sit wherever I wanted rather than ushering me to the table that would be most convenient to the server. But the server seemed quite happy to come to me and to recite the specials to me. I ordered two of them for my meal and they both were incredibly delicious and each had just the right texture. I started with the soft shell crab with two dipping sauces. The crab practically melted in my mouth and the shell gave it just a little crunch. Both dipping sauces were tasty but I preferred the hotter one. Then the roast duck in a curry sauce came and it was cut into small cutlets ( or i guess what today we call ' tenders') and they were tender with just enough crispiness on the outside of each piece. The sauce was a light curry one and not gloppy as they sometimes fan be. I had asked for a 6th degree of hot-ness on a scale of 1-10 but could have ordered a 7.
I can't wait to go back with friends so I can try many more of their dishes. You should gather a couple of friends and go too!
