I average about 10 trips to Vegas every year and I've stayed in a variety of the nice hotels. I was looking forward to the Delano since I had never stayed here before, but it was just an OK experience. A lot of my frustrations were probably unique to my stay. Most of the restaurants were closed and I had issues using a resort credit.
If you're arriving by Uber, make sure that Uber drops you off at the Delano entrance. I had a driver who insisted on dropping me off at the back Mandalay entrance. It's a very short walk to the Delano, but a pain when you're carrying luggage.
The entrance and lobby area is beautiful. Lots of interesting art that you should take some time to check out.
The room was also very nice. A suite with a separate living room and bedroom area. The bathroom was really large and there was a second small bathroom off the entry. We had a very nice view of the strip. The walls however were pretty thin. I could hear the people next to me talking and using their blow dryer.
One thing that was disappointing was how far the pool was from the hotel. You have to walk all the way through Mandalay casino and the pool is by Mandalay's pool. I came in shoulder season, so they only had one pool open. It was a nice day and really crowded. Be aware that part of the pool area is for smokers (or maybe just the people next to me were smoking).
I booked an offer that came with a resort credit. The person who checked me and gave me a card with just a few restaurants listed. We decided to have dinner at the lobby bar that was listed on the card. We ordered our drinks and when we went to order dinner, they said that the kitchen was closed that week. There was nothing else that appealed to us on the restaurants listed on the card. We went to the front desk and they gave us a letter that listed some more restaurants we could use. However, those nice restaurants were also closed. I'm not sure what was going on that week. We ended up using our $100 resort credit getting a couple of drinks and burgers at the sports bar. Very disappointing.
We did get room service a couple of times and the service was very friendly.
