  • Wowsers. Easily my favorite body shop experience yet. Misti Y and I brought our black '70 Camaro project car here for a modification to the stripes (wanting to get rid of the white ones) and after some discussion with the owner Jorge, we ended up going whole hog with an entirely new paintjob in the same color (black). It was an easy decision because we trusted Jorge from our experience 4 years ago at another shop with a tricky repair to the header panel on my '67 Camaro RS. Tricky because that particular car was pearl white and Jorge + his crew had to replicate a 3-part black bumblebee stripe. They nailed it. Since that first time we worked with Jorge on my '67 in 2010, he has built his own shop (well-deserved I might add) and this is the place. So, Jorge assured us that he would do the '70 right - which was an ambitious statement because black is by far the hardest paint color to execute. And... They nailed it. The body is laser straight, and I can see my reflection perfectly in the black paint, just as one can in a million-dollar Barrett-Jackson show car. I was utterly speechless when I saw the finished paintjob for the first time this morning. If I hadn't gotten a good night's sleep last night I probably would've cried. Breathtaking. And the pride that Jorge and his paint crew have in their work is incredible to see - before I left, they took lots of photos, as if they were going to miss having this one around. It may sound a bit extreme to a non-car-person, but when one of my cars is out of my sight, I feel like I've temporarily lost a part of my being. Jorge did not hesitate to update me throughout the process. There'd be days when I'd get multiple updates from him. Beyond professionalism, this shop is clearly passionate about what they do, and this is the above-and-beyond I'm looking for in a car shop, whether it's drivelines, interiors or body work. Without question, I'm bringing my next project here. Bottom line: Perfecting a mirror-black paintjob on a 70s American muscle car is the ultimate expression of a body shop's skill and expertise. Imagine what they can do to fix a fender-bender on a new Toyota.
