Friday night around 8pm and this place was packed with crowds waiting out front. Valet was the only option- don't bother driving around to find a spot. I figured that was a good sign and considered us lucky to grab two seats at the bar. The staff is friendly and the music is FANTASTIC- old school Cyprus Hill, Beastie Boys had us in the right mood.
The menu looked good with so many options that it actually took a while to decide. But in the end, I can't say I was impressed.
- We started with the veg board. Best were the roasted carrots and potatoes. The cauliflower and fennel would have been better with a bit more time in the oven because they were still really al dente with not nearly enough of the golden brown I hoped for in a dish described "wood roasted"
- Kindly- the server offered to make our pizza half and half. We chose the sweet potato/ricotta/sage and the brussel sprout/pancetta/manchengo/lemon. Both good in theory, but failed in execution. The slices of orange spud and creamy ricotta were both tasty, but toppings were limited to the very center of the pie, leaving at least half of each slice naked and flavorless. There were barely any brussel sprouts on the other side, though the lemon flavor was tasty and something I would try to repeat at home. The crust was a real issue- undercooked and doughy. Just poor execution of an otherwise good idea.
- Side salad was fine and priced right.
Overall, happy to leave this place for others who enjoy it more. Though they win the prize on music selection, there are many better pizza options in town.
