| - I work in hospitality so this review comes from a well trained and somewhat spoiled attention to detail so I won't be too picky - just noting things that I think the average guest would notice and should be aware of when making their choice for where to spend their hard earned dollars in Las Vegas ... I stayed at Harrahs back in 2010 and it was still a great value for price paid. But this time around (mid Feb 2016) the rooms (we traveled with another couple who had a separate room) were really run down and beat up. The bed wasn't the worst but was a pretty base level mattress leaving much to be desired in the comfort department. The linens were fresh and clean which was nice. The armoire's doors were nailed open because the "upgraded" (but pretty small) flat screen tv they installed would not allow the doors to close all the way and I'm guessing they didn't want people trying to close the doors and accidentally rip the tv out. The doors couldn't slide all the way back into the armoire so about an inch of the door stuck out into the walkway space between the armoire and the bed. There weren't enough accessible outlets for us to charge our phones (most of them were hidden behind furniture) so my boyfriend had to use his portable charger at night then recharge it during the day using the outlet on my side of the bed (which was still about 4 feet away.) There was a mini frig in the room but they have a sign on it telling you not to store food in them because they are not "on." If you want to use your mini frig you have to call the front desk and pay for it then someone will come "turn it on" for you. LAME. Now on to the bathroom ... oh boy. The light (see video) flickered so aggressively that I'm lucky I don't have epilepsy because I'm 99% sure this would cause a seizure. We weren't in our room a whole lot during our stay so we decided not to call (and wait on) maintenance to come fix it (if they could - it was really gnarly.) Upon arrival there were only two "sets" of towels in the bathroom of our King room. The "set" included one bath towel and one washcloth. There was a hand towel on the tub rail where a bath mat should be. Luckily, once housekeeping serviced our room, they left 3 full sets (bath towel, hand towel, wash cloth) as well as an actual bath mat. As a female - if I want to wash my hair I will need two bath towels (one for body and one for head/hair) so I skipped washing my hair the first day so as not to leave my boyfriend without a towel. As far as standard bathroom amenities go, this room was totally sub-par. There was a bath bar, facial bar, and bottle of hand lotion. That's it. Again, after housekeeping came they replenished these basic items and left a bottle of "conditioning shampoo" in addition - better than nothing? No coffee maker in the room but that's not surprising since it's Vegas and they want you to SPEND your money. The AC was loud and abrupt when it kicked on but we got used to it - just an old system. The room smelled musty every time we came back in even if we had the AC running at a lower temp in hopes of "freshening" it up. Finally, when we checked out, I told the desk associate about the light in our bathroom and showed her the video. She made a face and said "thanks" and something about getting it fixed but definitely did not include any sort of apology for the inconvenience. From my perspective as both a guest AND a purveyor of hospitality, you ALWAYS apologize for any inconvenience to the guest. Regardless of how small or insignificant it is - even if they chose not to inform you until they left or if they called down at 3am. ALWAYS APOLOGIZE.
Honestly, I think Harrahs is in desperate need of a room refresh transition and/or rebranding. The location on the strip is perfect which is why it was my first choice for this trip but those rooms have got to be completely redone. Hopefully the success of The Linq will lead to at least a room refresh at Harrahs.
