| - I was referred to dr. Sorkin -Wells for abnormal bleeding, abdominal pain etc. I'm 51 and also have a chronic back pain and other physical issues. After a biopsy showing a small benign uterine fibroid she basically told me to follow up but she thought it was just diverticulosis. For the next several months I did follow up with G.I. with many more expensive tests that showed nothing while I got significantly more ill. A CT scan was ordered and that small fibroid had doubled in size so I was referred back to the Az wellness office. I had another biopsy with her and set a follow up appointment to schedule a hysterectomy.
I continued to follow up with the G.I. as well of course as by this time I was unable to eat, was having significant diarrhea and had lost 30 pounds as well as being in a pretty decent amount of pain. When the pathology report was sent to me on the patient portal I read it. The fibroid was thank God benign but interestingly underneath diagnosis it said "chronic endometritis". Having worked for disability before I became disabled I knew that meant some type of infection of the endometrial lining but I did look it up on several webpages which suggested a short course of antibiotics might ease my symptoms at least over the weekend until I could see her for my scheduled appointment on Monday. I sent a message through the portal asking about that or if I could come in earlier - at this point I was feeling so horrible my husband was considering taking me to the emergency room.
I was given a very pat and Curt answer by a nurse that my doctor would follow up with me on Monday at my appointment. When I wrote back that I didn't answer any of my other questions and was sort of unprofessional the office manager called me and suggested I might want to seek care elsewhere. I was accused of being argumentative and when I begged and sobbed and asked her not to fire me and delay my care she said she and Dr. Sorkin Wells had discussed this and felt that I'd be better served elsewhere.
Although I had already checked in for my Monday appointment online and send my co-pay I received a message through the portal at the office manager Diane had canceled my appointment on Monday.
She said she and the doctor had discussed it at length.
Later that day Dr. Sorkin Wells herself send a message through the portal telling me there was no diagnosis on the report of chronic endometritis and that antibiotics could actually make my stomach worse since I have G.I. issues.
At this point it is not sure that I actually have any G.I. issues. The only thing that is for sure is that I have a very large fibroid in my uterus that needs to be removed. That alone actually could be causing pain, and yes even the pooping. Adhesions for instance wouldn't be picked up on a scan. Lots of possibilities.
I also wonder why she chose to finally write to me herself after she told the office manager to let me go as a patient. And I'm not sure how quick she can say that there is no diagnosis of chronic endometritis when it is written on the report in front of me.
I was told this office isn't an "urgent care" and don't do diagnostics. Just what?
I explained that I was having severe symptoms (which Dr Sorken Wells knew I'd she listened at the appt when she did the biopsy when she was so nice to me and kept saying she was so sorry I was going through this) and I was basically told that I had to wait 4 days in pain, not eating, diarrhea... and when I asked if there was anything they could do to help me they fired me. Now I have to wait an extra week for a consult for surgery with a new Gyn. I called my primary and I'm hoping that she will try to get me in quicker with someone.
That's if I don't end up going to the ER in the next day or two.
Oh, yah the office manager Diane also told me I shouldn't read on the Internet. And that they don't have the staff to spend time on the phone talking to patients when I told her my PA at the GI office knows I can't come in right now so he's doing results with me over the phone. When they found out what she did they called in a stomach med just to try something, anything. Because I'm sick - living on Gatorade, jello, saltines & lemon ice. Til I can see a new doc & get this thing out of my uterus. And find out about this other thing she says I don't have lol!
I'm sure that if you're feeling just fine and just need regular check ups she'd be lovely. If you need HELP, seek care elsewhere. If you overstep, God forbid get scared, nope- be "good" or you'll be asked to find a provider who is a "better fit".
