  • Overall, Plato's closet is a pretty good place to either shop or sell to. I can see why people are frustrated with selling, BUT I don't' really think their frustration is something to blame on anyone but themselves. I have had really good experiences selling to them but the key is to look on their website for what they are looking for, and to actually follow their guidelines on conditions. I've had them only take 1 item, and other times take my entire bag full! Just depends on what they need, it does NOT depend on what you are getting rid of. They are not goodwill or st.vinnys so people really shouldn't be surprised or offended. They also send out emails when they are really looking to buy, and what they are looking for, and that is also prime time to sell. The only time I was a bit irritated was when I brought in a like-new, in style, Michael Kors genuine leather purse that I actually saw them sell the exact same one before, for I think $150. I brought mine in to avoid doing the whole "meet up" selling through facebook, but they really lowballed me and literally only offered me $20 for it, then they were going to mark it up to $150 later. I would have taken probably 65-80 for it, and they could have sold it real fast for the same mark up. I ended up selling it the same day through facebook marketplace for just $100. I personally don't really shop here, I do when they have their big sales at the end of the season and have gotten some great deals. Plato's is also a great place to find jeans especially if you are shorter or sometimes even more of a unique size, I've found all my favorite pairs at Plato's in great condition for an excellent price. When they have sales, it is prime time to stop in, otherwise, I don't find their re-sale prices much of a deal compared to marshalls/tjmaxx/regular sales for some conditions that they sell in. If they were actually a bit cheaper I would probably shop there regularly. Overall, I think it's great to buy and resell gently used clothes and I support them as a company. Be sure to sell smart with them and you will be satisfied too
