After reading recent article in AZ Republic, this sounded like perfect spot to try authentic Mexican food. Spot on!!
My daughter and son-in-law are visiting from Atlanta. When they visit we always seek out true Mexican food, so tonight we trekked downtown to find Gallo Blanco. Our expectations, fueled by the article in the Republic, were high. As we left with delightfully full tummies, we all agreed our expectations had been exceeded.
I had the Huaraches Campechana as my entree despite it being listed as an appetizer on the menu. It was absolutely delicious and definitely an adequate portion for an entree for one.
My son-in-law had two tacos; one with carne asada the other the campechana, a mix of carne asada, al pastor and carnitas. He says they were the best he'd ever had.
My daughter had never had chilaquiles, so she ordered same and absolutely loved it. She also ordered a side of quac and was stunned at the huge portion. Also very good.
We finished off the meal by sharing an order of the churros and an order of the plantain pie. OMG for both!!! So good.
We sat in the bar where full table service is offered. We had excellent service with a very knowledgeable server, Kris.
We will be back!!!
