  • If you want to experience the underbelly of Vegas, or have a thing for Asian dealers, perhaps this is the place for you. The El Cortez is a little dive hotel & casino in downtown Las Vegas on the venerable Fremont Street. I can't comment on the rooms as I would never contemplate stepping foot in one. I went looking for a fair single deck blackjack game, alas no such luck -- blackjack paid 6:5. As others have mentioned, the casino restrooms are very dirty and don't flush properly. How do I know? I had the unfortunate experience of visiting the El Cortez after partially consuming a bad cheesesteak. The floors in the restroom are so caked with dirt that the holes in the floor drain are clogged. Gross.
