| - I went with a girlfriend to pick strawberries here on Sunday 4/29, and wow! We had a BLAST!! I know I can't give credit to Hall Family Farm for what a beautiful day it was, but I can say this... their strawberries are DELICIOUS!! I picked a whole box, and then decided to get another to give these to my parents as well... everyone LOVED THEM!! Plump, ripe, not too big, and BURSTING with flavor... I've already baked some of them into a pie, and eaten two FULL bowls with cream... YUM!
The set up here is very basic... you walk in, you grab a box (or bring your own), and you head out to the rows. There are rules posted, and I found it VERY impolite to see that some patrons were completely ignoring them, but the basic rule is DO NOT EAT your berries in the field... you are charged by weight, and therefore if you eat something in the field YOU ARE STEALING! SO many visitors were flouting this rule, and it really peeved me! Also, pick a row, and stick to it... there are SO many berries if you look under the plants... don't step over them... Other than that, you fill your basket, take it in for weighing, pay the lady at the register (about $2.40/lb) and go home to enjoy your berries...
There was almost a festival-like atmosphere with a few food trucks, games for kids, a shop with local honey, jams, and ciders, and even some pigs, chickens, and goats to visit with!
I can't wait to make this a regular stop!
