  • So people, especially Torontonians, are quick to judge the TTC. Saying its too crowded, there aren't enough lines, the service is shitty, you cant use presto on the busses, streetcars, or most subway stations, etc. Now think about this: how many of these problems are actually the TTC's fault? Too crowded? Thats what happens when politicians plan transit to get votes in suburbs and all those lines funnel into one central subway route There aren't enough lines? Maybe you would be able to get your subway lines if you would allow a small tax hike. Shitty service? ditto. You can't use presto? Metrolinx (the people who run the GO train) are responsible for installing those machines. The TTC receives almost zero subsidy from the various governments, which means that you literally pay for their operations, and they get you where you want to go without you being killed to death, in a relatively clean and disease free system, where most busses drive directly into the station so there is no need for a transfer, and the subways never run more than 6 minutes apart and lots of bus routes supposedly do as well. I can't drive yet so the TTC is basically my only option, and when I get my G2 I will drive my Merc CL500/BMW E30/Alfa 166/Citroen XM/BMW 850i (hopefully one of those), but its nice to know that when I cant drive for some reason, theres an OK transit system there for me. and certainly not one as bad as the DC Metro
