| - mehh my boyfriend wanted to surprise me with a new restaurant for Valentine's day. I'm just going to break this down into pros vs cons.
Pros:
1. They offer FLIGHTS OF WINE. Be still my indecisive heart. Three half pours of wine for like $15.
2. While it is not a large menu, the variety of offerings was really interesting.
3. Arrancini. If I ever go back to this restaurant I want approx. 6 orders of this.
4. Sweet table bread with kalamata olive butter. Weird, tasty.
5. Truffle Mashed Potatoes.
6. My boyfriend said his NY strip was tasty, just not a top choice for him in cuts of meat and there wasn't much beef selection.
7. Wild boar tenderloin. Kind of.
Cons:
1. (This might be a pro to some) Boyfriend ordered their house cocktail. I don't know what it was but it was windex blue and tasted like straight vodka. He couldn't drink it. I couldn't even sniff it.
2. Waitress "forgot" to mention the sweetheart special and when we asked about it she was like "oh you mean our early bird menu. You want to see that?" It could have been a genuine mistake, her reaction was just a little off-putting. She was super sweet otherwise.
3.As stated before, the menu had a lot of variety, which is nice if everything tastes good, but if you can't do it all, don't.
4. I'm not going to pretend that I am super familiar with balls of shredded meat, but this one just wasn't doing it for me. It is a part of the duo of wild boar, they call it a crepinette. maybe you eat a lot of those, maybe you'll like it, not for me.
5. Everything but the tenderloin on that plate of wild boar. The marmalade was very overpowering and I was trying my best to wipe it off of the tenderloin. The rissoto was terribly over-salted.
6. Creme brulee was alright taste-wise, but certainly not anything amazing. And it came in, I kid you not, an espresso cup. lol like this dinner plate was brought out to us with a gosh darn espresso cup of dessert on it. I sincerely hope it was a mistake and that was the portion size meant for the 3 course sweetheart special.
All in all, I promise you can find a better restaurant in Charlotte.
