  • I can't say enough about this property. I've lived in northern Arizona for almost 30 years and stayed at scores of Scottsdale resorts over the years. How this place was off my radar is beyond me. I basically stumbled upon it while searching for something different and reasonable for a weekend getaway with my wife. True to form, the Valley Ho is like stepping back in time - the 60's to be exact - mid century excitement, colors and glitz. ZuZu's and the lounge are spectacular - both are electric and offer excellent people watching opportunities. The people in attendance were well dressed for the most part, a pleasant departure from the typical flip flop tube top crowd. Our room with 2 double beds (least expensive) was equally delightful - same deco, very clean and well appointed save for a coffee maker which is fine without. It was quiet, comfortable and conveniently located near the quiet pool area. We also had a semi private patio beyond the large dual sliding glass doors featuring a double wide upholstered chaise lounge. Nice touch. The main pool can get crowded as others have noted, even on a Sunday when you would expect more check outs than check ins. My only gripe was the condition of the pool water which was very murky from crowds of sweaty, sun screened guests trying to stay cool in the oppressive Arizona summer heat. The pool water was also very warm which I am sure doesn't help the water quality. We eventually moved over to the very quiet and crystal clear alternate pool which is basically a lap pool with a round wading pool featuring a sparkling shooting fountain in the middle. It was very relaxing and peaceful. The main pool is pretty electric and noisy. We were surprised at how many young people were guest here because there are so many modern trendy resorts around. My wife and I can't wait to return here soon and hope for many more pleasant stays at this wonderful property.
