Heritage Square is a small spot in downtown Phoenix where they hold alot of cultural events. Last week I attended the Discover India Festival with my mom. I personally am not a big fan of branching out and trying new things so I wasn't really expecting any thing great.
The Festival was actually quite small compared to others like the Aloha Fest or the Matsuri festival, it barely took up the main walkway and half of the staging area behind the Rosson House. The main walkway was lined with booths featuring food, henna, clothing, and jewelry.
My mom and I ate a booth sponsored by Delhi Palace and to my surprise the food was amazing.
In the staging area there were groups and different schools lined up waiting to perform different Indian dances ranging from traditional to Bollywood.
They also featured an Indian wedding that I think would have been exciting to watch, but we didn't stay long enough to see.
Although the festival wasn't very large, it was quite interesting and I would recommend anyone looking to learn about Indian culture to check it out.
