  • Of all the East Coast Custard locations, this Parma Heights one is the place to visit if you want the full neon-lit crowded retro ice cream stand experience. It gets extremely busy at this location, as in 20-person-line-at-the-window, traffic-jam-through-the-parking-lot busy. The business next door seems to have some extra parking space in the evenings (I believe it's a day care or something that closes early) so you might want to try parking over there. There are lots of kids and teens and not many tables so you may end up eating your cone sitting in your car, or on a curb. However, in my long-ago youth ice cream stands tended to be crowded like this so it doesn't bother me. You want a nice seating area, go to a fancy ice cream parlor (like Malleys), not an outdoor stand. The custard and yogurt are great though and worth the hassle. I also think this location has a little better staff, probably because they have to be good to keep up with the big demand. I like to check their online calendar to see which flavors they have on tap before planning a visit. The menu is pretty huge at this location, which doesn't exactly speed people through the line and can be annoying if you're a basic cone or sundae person, but the hassles are worth putting up with due to the quality of the product and the fun of having a big ol' lit up ice cream stand on the main drag of an otherwise rather blah suburban area.
