| - There are tonnes of reviews and I am sure you all know what an amusement park is like so I am just going to go point form and give you a bunch of tips, recommendations and useful tidbits.
- Went on Thursday, August 24th 2017
- Forecast was sunny with cloudy periods
- Google showed low volume on Thursdays but it was actually very packed. I would hate to see what the weekend or long weekend looked like
- I don't know about individual breakdown of entry costs but total for two adults was a bit more than $250 ($258?) after tax for 2 admissions, one speed pass, one speed pass plus.
- Highly recommend the speed pass. Just the line for bumper cars would of been 30 minutes but with the pass we could do it 4 times in 30 minutes.
- There are two different speed passes. Normal and plus. Normal will get you on pretty much everything except for the main attractions. For $20ish more you get speed pass plus which will let you on "all rides"
- If you already purchase a normal speed pass online ahead of time you can upgrade at guest services and pay the difference.
- Online purchases give you a slightly better price so I've heard.
- Not all rides will have a speed pass lane especially in children areas but 80%+ do
- Starbucks does really suck here as many others have said. Previous reviews said there is no water except bottler, no gift cards accepted, long lines etc. I somehow ended up paying $8.78 for a grande. . .
- Phone died about 4 hours in. Bring a battery pack and maybe a ziplock bag to put your phone in for wet rides.
- If you do get wet those dryer booths that cost $5 will take about 3 or 4 goes to get you dry
- Parking is $20 and I suggest you keep a spare change of clothes just in case you get wet, puke or anything else
- YouTube the carnival games before hand lol
- Food is what you would expect. Expensive, horrible for you and lines are very long. There is a timmies and subway though.
- Other people have said to walk across the street to some sort of plaza for food
- I also heard that the strawberry funnel cake is amazing but I didn't really eat since I would be going on coasters so can't vouch lol
- Drive took about 45 minutes from Yonge and Bloor area
- People recommend going on a day where rain is forecast and you won't need to buy a Speed pass for $60-$80
- People also recommend buying your pass in the off season from Costco and others for $78 speed pass included.
- There is $6 a day dog kennel service but you will need to be the one checking in on your dog and feeding him. I didn't try it but looked it up just to see if it makes sense to bring the pup.
- Bumper cars are not called bumper cars and won't show up on the map as such. They are called Krachenwagans or something like that.
- Some rides (The Bat) don't have speed pass lanes and the line is 1 hour +. There is however a single rider line which was about 15 minutes or so. I ended up going on the ride with the person I was in the line with anyways.
- If the ride has water, you will get wet
- Most rides have cubby things for your drinks, purses and stuff. But not all for some reason. The ones that don't require you to bring your stuff on the coaster or take a splash on the river . . . Weird.
- There are lockers when you get in where you can put your stuff. I didnt try but am pretty sure they are included with admission
- Bring Gravol, Tylenol, Advil or whatever else will make you feel better after a long day of gravity defying, physical altering riding
- Remember where you park with landmarks, photos or if you have an Android device w/ Google Now Launcher just scroll left and it will guide you to where you parked. The parking lot is huge
- You will probably forget this. We did, but keep right when you first enter the parking lot after paying. The left lanes force you to turn into the parking lot right away and will slow you down. Right lane is straight.
All in all it was a fun trip. Ended up spending about $300-$350 by the end of the day for two people and stayed for 6.5 hours. Not really the best value but you gotta try it once.
Plus a guy like me doesn't like waking up too early, commuting for almost 2 hours round trip, waiting in lines ( even with fast pass), running around a park and overpaying for literally everything all day only to get poorer quality stuff.
And in reality it is the same as any other amusement park. Maybe a ride is slightly taller which equates to another second of dropping but La Ronde in Montreal, Playland in Vancouver and even the CNE (if your are going for the fair and casual rides rather than the huge roller coasters) can give you a comparable experience without the long commute and loanshark style price tag.
In the end, I personally recommend that you go once just to experience it and say you did but I myself wouldn't go twice. Just too much of a hassle in a city that has so much to offer closer to home.
