| - This is our third October in Las Vegas and going to Gilcrease Orchard has become an annual tradition for us. I'm from farm country in the Midwest, so going to Gilcrease makes me feel a little more at home. The first year we were here, in 2012, there was a hay wagon that took you around the entire lot, dropping people off in various sections. I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so that was pretty convenient for me. :) They didn't have they hay ride last year, but it gave us the chance to walk around, and for my then 3-year old to walk around in the dirt (his favorite) and check out the veggies. There's also a maze and various spots around the lot set up with hay bales and pumpkins to take fall pictures in.
We've always gone toward the end of October, and usually by then, there's less veggies and pumpkins available to pick- we've still been able to find the perfect pumpkins though. We're planning to go this weekend (early October), so maybe there will be more vegetables for us to choose from.
Parking is always a little hectic. There's a lot across the street to park in, but sometimes it's full and you have to park down the street a little and walk. Not a big deal. Last year they also had the option to drive through the Orchard, but that cost a few dollars.
The apple cider is fantastic!
